I'm looking forward to actually driving it, but I have to have a safety inspection done before I can get my plates. The inspection stations are private and there's one about a half mile form me, but he's booked up for several days. You have to wonder how a state can create a system where you can't get plates or drive the vehicle until you get it safety checked, yet you have to take it somewhere to do it. Not everyone, including myself, has a car trailer, so you drive it without plates and reg.
I did make a couple runs around the local block and it seems to run pretty darn well. It has no problem turning the tires out of the gate.
The swap is not the easiest, but it does not require a lot of fabrication. There's a ton of little stuff that is just different enough to be a PIA. The basic differences are the 3500 is drive by wire, the 3100 is mechanical throttle body. The 3100 uses a fuel pressure regulator and return line. The 3500 uses a single feed and no return line. The 3500 UIM does not have the two vacuum ports you need. The 3500 engine to trans mounting points are moved up about .300 and to the right about 1.050. The 3500 needs an external 7x sensor and a throttle body adapter plate that Wot-Tech can provide.
I'm going to do a full write on the swap with what I learned and did to overcome some of the problems.
