  • Well We Did It - But have a (*) problem...

    Hey guys

    '93 3.1 into a '91 Beretta

Well it lasted from Feb 17 until May 17 but it's in and runs. Just turned the key and it started like it always did.

    But...

It backfires like New Year in Chinatown - read something about an 'Idle Learn Procedure' but don't know what if anything it has to do with it.

Also, my son said he took the injector harness off the '93 engine and used the one from the '91 because the modular plug had one extra contact on the '93 that the '91 harness didn't accomodate. Maybe there's something here too?

    Any thoughts or comments welcom

Idle relearn doesn't fix a backfire problem. Just for discussions sake, is every spark plug wire in its correct location?

      Wires & backfire

Hey thanks for the quick reponse - will check but think the wires
'should be' ok because (to clarify) the backfire is not always present
at idle (and idle is smooth enough arnd 900 -1100 rpm (it was hunting a bit) but occurs when we hit the accelerator and then intermittantly.

      thanks
