  • Newbie 2.8L Engine Swap Questions

    Hello to all!!

I have currently acquired a 1984 2.8L S-10. The engine was seized and I am looking to do an engine swap on the truck. I have found a long block (2.8L) but it is for a 1985 model with a different Vin code. My truck is a Vin code B and this is for a Vin code R.

My question I have is, will this long block work with the carburetor and all of my accessories on the truck. I have done some research and I see that in 1985 the 2.8 was converted to a multi port fuel injection with larger valves. Will the carb on the 84 model truck be able to supply the correct amount of fuel to the engine?

I am a completed newb to this truck and these engines but I do have some experience building and swapping engines in cars........

Any info would be great and I thank you in advance for the help!!!!

Just swap over your accessories and everything should work just fine. Basically, everything from the heads up will swap over and it will be basically the same engine.

Yup it will work out just fine. In fact people use that carb on a 3.4L swap usually without a problem.

If you can afford a 3.1L or 3.4L Camaro engine than that is a better way to go. More power and torque for the same amount of work. Usually for the same price too.
