  • 3.6 (LY7) into 2nd Gen S-10 from 4.3vin w

I have this 1994 S-10 4x2 4.3 vortec auto w/250,000+ miles, and may soon have access to a salvage 2004 cadillac cts rwd with the 3.6 (LY7), in which the tranny is supposedly shot. I would strip the sedan of the whole 3.6 engine, PCM & harness, steering column, and instrument cluster for the swap. Also, might fab my own mounts if necessary. But I'm not clear as to which transmission I should use. Are there any mid-late 90's trannys (auto or manual is fine) I could find in a yard that may be up to the task with relatively little machining involved? Would greatly appreciate any tips/help/advice/criticism!

the 3.6 should have the same bellhousing pattern as any other 660...

    EDIT: yes indeed:

"GM Small Corporate Pattern" includes the 3.6

which tranny did the cts have? can't remember if the 3.6L came with the aisin 6spd as an option or auto only. You could get an gm small corperate to sbc adapter plate from speedway motors to use with a th350 if you want an older auto setup(would think it would work with any sbc bolt pattern transmission though).

Interesting. Did the caddy have a stick or auto? If auto then tuning issues would arise and SES codes when it doesn't see it there... So you'd need a way to tune the PCM. You'll probably need the BCM too. No one has done that swap before, or use some of the newer PCMs...

NO! the cadillac 3.6 DOES NOT SHARE the small corp bellhousing pattern. edit: the only rwd trans usable would be a 2010 camaro trans!

Didn't expect such quick responses; thnks to everyone! Tranny in the cts is a getrag I believe, because the aisin auto wasn't used until 05. I'm going to look nto this more and I'll post whatever I find out! Thanks again to everyone for their input!
