allright im a muscle car guy and i love big engines. i own a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT. i was looking online and saw that someone had a 5.7L Corvette engine that fit in the engine bay. is this possible??? if not what size v8 will fit? i know i know i probably sound stupid but i would love my car so much more if it had a v8 instead of a 3.4L v6

o and i forgot to metion RWD also. i cant stand FWD. personally i hate FWD.

Well, looks like your gonna be spending some major $$$ to get that V8 in your GA GT. Its 1500 just for the engine cradle itself. If you have the money to drop on that why not go ahead and buy a V8 car? A Pontiac G8 GXP? But, sure if you want to more power to ya, but it just doesnt seem feasible, but sure ill support the cause....with a set up like that your possibilities are endless...small block, big block...take your pick. Fabrication is a must!!

Fred generally builds small block applications and has recently started using the LS series as well. I haven't been up there for a while, however I don't recall any Big Block cars, at least not in FWD conversions. Too heavy for the most part.

He gave me a quote about 6 years ago to do a Beretta and it was just over $20,000 for a rolling chassis including the four link, Willwood brakes, fuel cell, all front suspension.

All lights remained and car would be street legal.

          No wiring, no plumbing.

And he won't touch ANYTHING with any rust at all!!

But the guy is legendary for his quality. And pretty laid back as well.

What Size of V8 really doesn't matter. There are only 2 Chevy V8's and since you like the 5.7L Corvette engine than you are talking about a small block. In which case they are all externally the same size and they will all fit regardless of engine displacement.

But like Asylum said it is much more feasible to buy a V8 RWD car in the first place. The G8GXP is a great car. Late model GTO's should be cheap by now and so are 4th Gen Camaros. Hell even C5 Vettes have fallen in price big time.

look into the 2006+ Impala SS with 5.3l aluminum block v8 that was shortened a bit to fit in a fwd application, you should be able to find one for 1k or less.

The most economical and easy route would be to use the Cadillac 4.9L which has the same bolt pattern as the 60 degree V6. If you insist on a 5.7L look at adapting the street dreams
http://www.streetdreamsbyross.com/fiero.php or V8 Archie http://www.v8archie.com/v8Archie/home.htm v8 fiero swap kit. The principle is basically the same and should work in a true fwd car if it works in the Fiero.

I see you want rear wheel drive also, in that case I suggest you look into the GM AWD vehicles for possible swap options to your car.

oooh oooh i forgot about the northstars with the same bolt pattern! you could get a 4.0 aurora engine for like $500 & it has the fwd trans bolt pattern.

4 liters, 32 valves, 2 cams, & a lot of potential as well as cost effective (procuring the engine shouldnt be bad by any means) then you just have to fab up engine mounts, rewire/modify the wiring harness, then do all of the small things that seem to add up, but that would be mean as hell!

or you may be able to find an aurora with a freshly blown headgasket or a bad trans & im sure that would have most everything you need.

Does the 5.3L impala SS motor have the 60* bolt pattern too? That's 305hp with DoD. You'll need a trans though that can hold the power. The SS had a special version of the 4T65-E-HD. But it would be FWD... might as well get a GXP/etc then...

soon i will have the money. i got into a car accident and broke a bone in my back and my car is all messed up. the bone CANT be fixed. its a lifetime injury so i plan on getting alot of money out of it. i allready filed the lawsuit against him. he was drunk and im gonna take his house from under his feet. money is not a worry to me when i get it but i dont know when exactly i will recieve it. i was also looking at the impala SS. very very nice car. but my dream car is a 1995 Trans Am 5.7L V-8 with a T-Top. i know not much of a dream car but that is mine

bs if it isnt much of a dream car, it doesnt matter if its a pacer or a ferrari, if its what youd love to own & would put a smile on your face from every day forward, its no less important than anyone elses dream car.

if anyone doesnt believe me, watch that "sweet 16" show & you'll see teenages diasspointed or angry by italian sports cars that most people would be thrilled to own.

its just too bad MY dream car turns out to be a $600,000.00 overpriced chunk of carbon fiber with a ford v8 in it (frowny faces all around in all aspects but looks & TT).

i also have a buddy who went out & bought an 06 impala SS with 5.3 V8 & that cylinder shutoff crap, he says the cylinders coming on & off is smooth & unnoticeable, as well as that he gets 28-29 mpg on highway when hes tries, and it looks freakin huge (the car not the engine).

& if you are going to get that money why dont you just buy your dream car & build it? in the long run ill bet youd be happier considering you can probably find a 95 trans am at not too much more than the cost of the swap & every day youd wake up knowing that you own...it

                            just a thought

I get 25 mpg in my 3500 Beretta with 3.73 gearing, no TCC, and it will run 14.0 on demand.

Although the Impala might be a tad more comfortable, LOL!
