  • No start after swap

Swapped 95 sfi motor into 92 mfi z34. Per forum ignored extra crank/cam sensors and used maf from 92 motor. Used 92 harness and computer. 92 ran well but knocked; 95 was from running car. Rechecked all connections. Getting fuel, but when I grounded plug wire with spare plug got no spark. I need to get this car running. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

i'll say check the wiring from the crank sensor to the ignition module. good chance it got pinched or cut while swapping.

        no start

Found part of problem. Switched plug for crank sensor and plug at right side axle housing (both were ppl/ylw). After swapping back, got spark, pulled front plugs, only #6 wet. Still no start, but sounds like its trying. Could motor br flooded from trying to start it so long? Battery died, so I'll try again tomorrow. Any suggestions? Thanks.

          still trying

Fuel pump is priming. Fuel pressure 40# at schrader valve. Sounds like no fuel to injectors. #6 plug still getting fuel, 2 & 4 bone dry.Tried starting fluid and it started momentarily, then caught fire...(too much ether I guess). I am assuming the ignition system is o.k. now after switching wires at sensors. What could be causing no fuel to injectors? I need help fast (before I blow myself up!). Thanks.

            still trying

Is it possible the injectors are stuck closed? I don't know how long the 95 motor was sitting before I bought it. Would I be better off swapping in the 92 fuel rail? It has been sitting for 2 wks in garage, but ran fine before engine spuin bearing. PLEASE REPLY, I NEED MY CAR. THanks.

I would look at the injector signals from each injector plug, if only a couple are firing then it sounds like pcm troubles or if they are injector problems. Curt

It was injector problem. See" finally" thread. Thanks.

if u have it apart,(ie the fuel rail off) a way i check injectors is disconnect all 6 plugs to them. turn the key enough to get the fuel pump activated and apply batt voltage to each one via 2 jumper wires(just hold for 1 sec then release repeat the on/off process about 3 times or as needed).
also common sense dictates to have a small bucket or something to catch the fuel spray. sometimes the injectors won't close all the way and will drip. this is a way i use to identify this. also if they don't open at all, that would be evident as well. u can seperate the good injectors from the bad and sell them or whatever.

p.s. also check for an even spray pattern. if not run some cleaner.
