  • engine swap headache

I am repacing a 3.4 in a 1994 cutlass supreme with what was supposed to be the same basic engine. I've had to mill the hole for the cam sensor, swap timing cover, but now i realize they have different exhaust ports. Could anyone tell me what years the sqaure looking ports were(new motor) and the "pill" shaped (old motor), so i can find the exhaust manifold to fit?

96+ have the wider exhaust ports. 94-97 have the cam position sensor. If you had to mill that hole, then the cam won't have the nub you need and none of this makes a lot of sense to me. Sounds like you have a 91-93 engine and you used to have a 96+ motor in your 94. You probably won't have the 24x sensor on the crank pulley either from the sound of it.

To make a long story short. Bought the car, wife liked it(convertible), knew the motor was not the original motor. the old motor had cam sensor, crank sensor behind pulley. The new one had neither. Not sure what all has been to this thing, but it's turning into a project.

91-93 cams won't so someone swapped the cams on a 91-93 motor. Thats pretty bizarre all around.

you'd probably be better off fabbing yourself up a set of headers than looking for/purchasing stock exhaust manifolds-your engine with thank you for it!
