  • 92 2.3, swapped for a 99 2.4 complete

original car is a 1992 acheiva 2.3 SOHC 3-speed auto.
    Swapped in a 1999 Malibu 2.4 DOHC and 4-speed, I think its a 4T45 trans.
    Harness and OBD2 comp.

I think i wired it all right. Nothing went up in flames so.....

I got power across the malibu fuse box, but absolutly nothing on the fuel pump relay. car lights up fine, ignition seems to work.

I got no fuel pump signal, no crank signal.
I'm thinking passkey. But, I thought passkey just kills fuel pump signal not eliminating starter circuit? Any ideas? Or did I really screw up in the wiring somewhere?
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

also, why would you swap for an engine with less power? theres like a 20-30hp jump between those 2 engines, .1 L isnt really worth it if u are losing power-now is it? also the 2.4s are MUCH harder to find in good shape if anything ever happens to it-i should know-we are looking for 1 right now!!

        1. posted in swap and falls under OBD1 --->2 swaps
        2. Note the SOHC to DOHC, not just the liter size.

        3. I have supplied so much info, hand typed, reference material to other 60 degree members, asking for some tech advise and opinions from others in this "general" area is well within par.

        4. If you have info, share, if not, step aside and keep quiet for others who do know.

Ben! Why do we keep having flamers?
