  • 3.1 rwd in a honda crx

me and my buddy seem to love wasting money and are incapable on focusing on any 1 project at a time.
so now we're wanting to take the 3.1 out of my firebird(after a 3.4 goes in the firebird)and putting it in a honda crx and converting it to rwd. i have a spare t5 transmission out of my last firebird, and i figure(without any basis, just off the top of my head) that a rear end and driveshaft from a chevette type car would be perfect for the rest of the drivetrain.
i figure fwd heads and a set of headers, and this project should fly.
we can only find 1 documented v6 ever in a crx, and that was a honda engine. i guess you could say we're doing the same thing, only ours will actually be fast haha

Well, that's certainly one way to do it. I would be concerned about the body of the car not being able to withstand the torque and forces that converting it to RWD would create. Wouldn't you need a frame? If this is a unibody construction then it needs so much more than an engine, trans and differential.

you're basically going to need to attach a frame to it that will stiffen up the whole car due to there being like no support in the back (honda crx unibody...). i say do it-besides hooking electronics up & bracing the car, it shouldnt be too bad otherwise.

Yea, we know it'll torque the hell out of the body if we don't brace it. We'll stiffen it up, even tho I kinda wanna see it twist! Haha
I remember when my dad had hid '96 trans am, and I did a bunch of work on it an told him he needed sfc's but he wouldn't listen. We were in the car the next day, and he got on the gas just a little bit and the windshield split! Hahaha it sucked but it was still awesome!
