  • will a 94+ 3.4 rwd engine work in my 93 camaro?

my camaro is a 93 so the engine & trans are controlled separately-i do intend to do a 5 speed swap in the long run (a cheap 5 speed from an older v6 camaro or firebird)-but my question is will a 94+ 3.4 engine work with my equipment? if so i think i will start a cheap build on one soon because although my engine runs great, i do smell what i believe is burning antifreeze when im outside of the car, although there is no evidence of this anywhere ive checked & the engine has an original 63,000 miles on it.

Camaros came standard with 3.4L engines from 93-95, AFAIK...

i understand this but what im saying is-my ecu ONLY controls the engine whereas starting in 94 the trans & engine were controlled together-can i use a 94-95 engine with my current ecu or will i have loads of problems?

No problems between the two or at least none to speak of. I run the STOCK PCM in my 2,250 pound 1980 MGB. Good mileage and the dyno runs against one that was tuned with a haltech shows very little difference. Also, I am currently running an automatic PCM when i have a 5 speed. The light does not come on and the engine still appears happy. Too many people talk about what you cannot do with the stock PCMs. Too many people have never tried!

the newer motor will never know that its in an older car. only a problem if you tried to use the newer comp as well. also use your stock injectors.

as long as the old comp will work fine that sounds great-i just wanted to make sure that i wasnt going to have a hell of a time finding a engine to build if i could ONLY use a 93 3.4 LOL. thanks for all your help guys!!
