Help! Another 3.1 V6 for my 1991 Camaro RS

If you trying to get a 3.1L you in for some nasty surprises.

The engine mounts are VERY DIFFERENT on the block. The 3.1L van motor has the same mounting bosses as a Gen II motor. Trust me I have seen it and have pics. Also the starter is on the driver side of the block and relocation is not possible on a 3.1L/2.8L FWD block because there is not enough material on the passenger side to support the starter or drill the outboard hole.

You need to find a RWD block and thats the only practical answer. Otherwise your into custom mounts and finding a bellhousing or modifying a stock one for a drivers side starter. If you are already into a rebuild consider just upgrading to the GM HT 3.4L Crate motor. It will cost you less than a rebuild if there are any dealers that can supply one or consider an online purchase. I am not sure what shipping will run you or if you will be able to find any one to ship internationally.

and will GM HT 3.4 fit with no modifications?

I have found another engine that may fit in my car, it is 4-th gen 3.4 camaro, it is from wrecked car, but the engine is ok, but i still need adwises about swap, and infoabout required modifications, so i am counting on you guys!

yeah that 3.4 out of the 4th gen will fit no problems

Agreed, grab it before it is gone! The increase in displacement will net a bit more power too.

If you got a 93-95 camaro with a 3.4L you could swap all his stuff over to that engine and it will bolt in.
