I have a 88 Fiero (fully original engine) which is currenty sounding very much like a bad rod or main bearing.
I also have a spare 2.8 from an 86 Fiero and a 3.4 ffrom a Fire Bird. Basic questions
I know I have to do some mechine work to put the front mount 3.4 into the fireo, ( swap sides of the starter) and a couple more minor items; and I don't want to do that much work right now as I hope to rebuild the original engine in the future and return it to the 88 to keep the SN matching.
As an interum fix and get the car back on the road I would like to know if I can
1. Can I put the crank and cam from the 3.4 into the earlier 2.8 block without any mod?
2. If this possible, what stroke am I looking at for the 3.4 crank?
