ok heres what im wanting to do tell me if i could make it work

i want to run a 3.8 motor but swap to a carb and hei setup with a msd box i want to do some crazy conpression and a big cam and head work in this motor and swap it in to a cavalier i know the 3.8 will bolt up to the cavalier tranmission but what year motor and top end could i use to pull such a thang off keep

Are you sure the 3800 will fit into a cavalier engine bay? That 3800 is a 90 degree V6 and is quite a bit wider then the 60 degree V6 not to mention I think all 3800's are cast iron heads and block which is a lot heavier then the newer 60 degree V6's with aluminum heads. I could be wrong but I'm sure someone will chime in that would know better then me.

    Mark.

      1. Seems kinda pointless really

      2. Your posting about a 90* motor on a 60* website (also pointless)

yeah the 3800 will have no problem fitting in the engine bay of the z24.
        it has been done before.
i my self would definatly keep a 60*V6 in there(personal prefrence)
but the 3800 is a good motor and i dont know much about them.and would not be 100% sure if you would be able yo go carb and distributor.because like the 660 the 690 has different gens. as well and i am not sure what interchanges between them.
but i had inquier about puting a new supercharger on a old school 3.8 and i don't think it's possible

Isn't the point of engine swapping to put in something that is better and more reliable?

why is this thread not closed? this has absolutely nothing to do with 60* & hes actually wanting us to help him get rid of it for a worse engine...

Naa, we'd make fun of him there too..

the 3800 isn't a bad engine overall, it's just overrated.. and the OP's plans to carb it show lack of research and understanding of modern technology.
