3400 Top End on a 94 3100

I know this subject has been talked about alot. I am pretty knowledgeable on the swap but just a few things I want to go over before I go ahead and do this.

When using he 3400 heads do I use the 3400 head gasket, I'm thinking yes, but wanted to hear from others. Also a similar question, do i need to get 3400 head bolts or 3100? Or does it not matter?

As for the alternator, I know it doesn't exactly bolt right up. I see it can be done but I was wondering if it would just be easier to use a alternator made for a newer Grand Am that came with the 3400. What are peoples opinions on this?

Use the newer alt if it is different. Head bolts are the same. Use the 3100 head gasket.

You just need to get 1 bolt and a nut to bolt on the alt. I went to a 3500 plenum and it doesn't use those 2 stud/brace things. So you have the bottom swivel bolt, and then get a short bolt and nut and bolt it to the top last bolt hole on the stock alt. Works fine. The extra braces and stuff are not needed and a bit over kill. They did away with them later years as you can see.
