  • Who has completed a successful 3.6 swap?

I've read quite a few threads with people talking about it but they never seem to show completion. Anyone got one rollin?

There was some guy with a sand rail that had one on here. Didn't get much info out of him. I think he had pics, I can't remember.

So no others to speak of? What's the big hurdle with the 3.6 other than price?

The engine is a little bulky, more rare than the pushrod motors and has a lot more complex engine control system.

Bigger for sure, DOHC motors are big. Heavier, probably somewhat.

It's all aluminum externally so it certainly shouldn't be heavier than a 3.4 DOHC. I don't remember which thread but I do recall posting the weight. You have to decide what to do about the VVT which is a bit more complicated than the cam in block VVT motors though I'm sure you could find a way to fix them into an optimal position. Depends on what your plans are. All of the manual flywheels for it are dual mass I believe and your sources are likely the Saab 2.8L DOHC motors and the Cadillac CTS, in which case you would also have to use a Saab manual trans as a result or have a custom flywheel made.

I've read that the LY7 weighs 370 lb installed. So how much do the others weigh (3.4, 3500, 3900)? As for the flywheel, if I pull an engine/tranny combo from a CTS why would I need to mess with it?

Because the Cadillac CTS is rear wheel drive.

                        Mine is in process:

This is the manual transmission from a CTS being checked for fit in a Studebaker.

If someone has a link for overall 3.6L dimensions, it would be greatly appreciated.
