  • 3400turb'd or LQ1 into a Fiero

For over a year now, I have been looking into a Fiero. Hopefully an 88, but an 87 would work too. I plan on swapping in the 88 cradle, doing brake conversions and etc. But Im wondering on opions of people from here. In the Engine swap section, a post of a 3400 (turbo'd) and a 3.4LTDC have been put in the Fiero. I have NO experience with turbos, but the site has a neat little write up. So im wondering ..

What would be more benefical to drop in .. a 3400 (turbod) or 3.4LTDC. It will be a 5spd and the Fiero will come with a 2.8v6.

In a couple of years (least one yr, prob two) or so, I do plan on dropping in the Chevy crate ZZ4 (350ci) or the Northstar (thats the future, so it aint planned out yet) and I will be doing suspension and brakes and all that good stuff when putting in the 3400 or LQ1 .. or am I best to keep the 2.8, drop on top end of 3400 or what do you guys think? Try and keep in mind engine wiring ..

    Thanks
    Jay

Just putting a bone stock 3400 in there will make the car a heck of alot more fun to drive.

So is the Fieros 2.8L wiring the same as the 3400s? Because if Im gonna need to get the wiring harness and do all that crap, Ill just keep the 2.8 until the ZZ4 swap.

      Thanks for your input.

You can use the top end from a camaro 3.4 in the fiero, and the wiring should be the same. I would just swap in the crate motor, it's just as cheap as doing a 3100 or 3.4 tdc swap
