    Heres the deal...
About 3 months ago I bought a car for my girlfriend. A 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix with 3.1L. I bough it from a guy who did the upper motor rebuild, intake, head, pushrods...everything. He put it back togeather and it started knocking real bad. I bought it from him for real cheap $600 and rebuilt the bottom end (whole new crank, main bearing, rod bearings, seals, everything. Now this car has been running great, no problems, untill Sunday. She got into an accident and ruined the car. My dilemma is that I would like to find a nice car with a junk motor. I found a great one 1996 Grand Prix loaded, knocking motor... but it is the 3.4L. I need to know what problems I would encounter by putting the 3.1L in the 3.4L car. I am guessing computer.

If anybody has any information please let me know.

    Thank you

computer and trans but the trans is just 3.43 vs 3.33 fdr. Shouldn't be too difficult to swap a 3100 in there.

So at the time that I wrote the article I had thought that the new car would be a 3.4 OHV but turns out it is a 3.4 DOHC. I am guessing that this would be a nightmare having to replace motormounts, whole wiring harness and computer, and may not even work. Please tell me what you think, I would like to hear that it would be easy. I just think that it might be too much work for the total outcome

Swap your harness. Its not that difficult since it bolts to the firewall.

Well..... after doing some more searching i have found a 2000 Malibu for $600. This car is in great shape with bad motor. Now, I have a few questions, I know i would have to change a bunch of sensors, but i could make them work. would i have to change intake manifolds, or engine mounts?
