Car will be in the neighborhood of 3200-3400lbs. They say every 100lbs is worth a tenth, but you will make up for that in your 60' over the Cavi

Eather the Vaga or the Opel is a good snag! I personally would go with the Opel... I'm fond of strange little cars!
As for the tranny Using the "WC" T5 "14spline" out of 98-02 v6 Camaro
has all the strangth of the v8 and the gearing suited for the v6..
It's important you us the "wc"

I'm running a smaller stock 2.8 iron head with 3100 1.6 rockers, a holley 2v 500cfm carb, backed by a 90's S10 bellhousing/clutch, a 99 wct5 and 3:54rear with a Direct-><-Connection LSD, in my 2130lbs ArrowGt RWD and the F-ing thing pulls hard and happly drop the clutch at every light "that my wife's not at" and burn my way through the intersection or anything for that matter...lol
I abuse my car and tranny because I can and it's my toy!...
Plus burn-outs looks soo much better with a RWD car!
It's what I built it for and drag racing old guy in vetts off the light...

Nissan Z cars are light, have an aftermarket, and are pretty rare to see especially 70's era cars.

You would still have to do a complete drivetrain, but the axle would be fine.

            Also independent rear...

Hi, I have installed a 2.8 from an 82 Camaro in my Vega. The main issues has been with oil pan both cross member and steering interfere with Camaro pan. Fiero works but get to low so I welded one from the Camaro. Air condition is very close to the right exhaust manifold and making a nice pipe take some time, a lot easier with only heating. With power steering the pump interfere with the steering box. Need custom made brackets. And finally the original radiator inlet/outlet is not where you want them.
Using TH200C trans, but looking for a 700 or 4l60(E). I will swap the engine for one with injection one day
As far as I remember only 76/77 Vega used the torque arm but all Monza. My 75 does not have it

Why not rear drive the cavy? I looked into it a while back and from my measurments a s10 rear would fit good. You would have to beef it up a ton or build a frame, just some braces and mounts for the rear. I think it would be sweet and would actually make the weight distribution better.

lol, i like how this topic pops up randomly...

no vega for me, i couldn't find one in good shape so i'm going with a 3rd gen Camaro. Tons of aftermarket parts and if i ever get tired of 60v6's i can slide in a LS6/T56 with no problems.

RWD conversion on the Z24 was just too impractical. By the time i added in the weight of a rear end and all the extra bracing it would weigh about the same as a 3rd gen Fbody. The F has the same 101" wheelbase as the J, it's just 6" wider.

Ya I'm parting my 90 z24 out now. You remeber me from v6z24 I have the blue 3400 turbo cavy I got mine done around the same time 89jyturbo did years ago. I have a famiily now so the engine and trans is going in a 96 cutlass so I have room for the kids. I have been trying to get my account started back up at v6z24 but haven't heard anything from moon.

I most likely have to use a FWD engine together with RWD transmissioning or doing a head swap if possible on the 82 to get a injection engine. It's hard to get hold on a ressonable priced FWD engine and I never seen a RWD Camaro/Firebird engine for sale in Norway

I don't know yet. The carb is not working well struggeling to delivere fuel. It is the 2.5 type not the 2.8 (to small) or it is clogged/restircted.
