OBD 1.5 IIRC means the Camaro had an OBD 1 style plug, but the paperclip trick would not work for pulling codes. Also it does not have a removable MEMCAL like the OBD 1 cars, but flash memory instead.

Ok so that's why forcedfirebird said it can't really be tuned. I thought I pulled the plate off of the back of the ECM and saw a promchip but maybe I was looking at my buddy's TPI ECM (too many parts around...) I was told the 88 ECM will do fine and you guys got alot more experience with the 60's than I do so I do trust your info.
One thing I'm finding (which I wanted to make sure it wasn't the ECM's fault) is that I keep getting a temporary o2 code while under steady load for say longer than 5 seconds, and it goes off by itself sometimes after acceleration, sometimes after deceleration (or coming ot a stop). We're figuring the o2 is not staying hot enough as I have but Pace Setter headers on, and this problem did occur before the swap too only to think I had a faulty o2. So we want to either move the o2 higher up on the y-pipe or do the heated o2 upgrade.
Other problem I'm finding is that I have a hard time starting when the engine is cold. I prime the pump, will crank for a bit with no fire (good spark no fuel), prime pump again, crank and will fire but not run (just like a stumble), will do that a few times and finally will start and run great. Now a few things that I have to do first to eliminate possible causes,
Problem 1 - My fuel pump was weak to begin with and getting weaker by the day. I'm figuring due to extra load with the 3.4 and bigger injectors. This will be replaced when I do the dif.
Problem 2 -My cold start injector the might have got clogged with some shavings while I ported the lower plenum as I didn't want to remove it and risk damaging the injector or seal. My stupidity but i have another one now which I want to swap over.
Anything else that could possibly cause this? Like I said when the engine is running it runs great but there is a bit of 'no fuel/sparatic fuel' type of hesitation under heavy load, it only feels like I have no fuel at all when cranking at first. All of the ignition new and timing set around 10-14 degrees (no timing plate on 3.4).Last edited by NArtissimus; 09-11-2008, 12:04 AM.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help and info for completing a succesful 3.4 swap. This is definitely the most informative and helpful site I've seen. The best part about is the lack of ignorance and stupidity among you all.
Fortunately I've found my new organ donor and my Camaro will soon be breathing with the help of an LS1, backed by a 4l60e. It will be living it's life as a 2001 Z28 in the skin of an 88 with most of 01 interior and the full electrical system.
Everything in my V6 driveline, exhaust, most of the interior, and wheels are for sale if there is anyone in the Vancouver, Canada area that is interested. email me at nartissimus@hotmail.com
Thanks again, Art

lol i love the look of the car, but hate FWD. i really the camaro too. so the mix didnt seem like a bad idea to me, especially since the interior of my car is my least favorite part. some cool ass newer interior would rock my tiny little world.
now to go take one more look for that bleeder screw.
