  • new motor?

    hey guys gotta ? for someone. im swapping my 3400 out of my 00 grand am gt. it has the air pump crap on it. i have a 3400 out of a 02 or 03 impala with low low miles on it. now if i swap this motor in what are the little differences. and alsodo i have to swap over my secondary air or can i get my computer tuned to get rid of it. any help would be great .

      Where are you located? If you are in a state that requires the AIR system for emissions, then you cannot take it off. Otherwise, you can take it off and be fine. As far as the PCM goes, I can't really help you.

        Wasn't it like all 2000 3400's had that stuff on there? If you're state doesn't require it put the new motor in and an ECM from a 2001 grand am (assuming it will work).

          If you're doing just an engine swap, why does the air pump stuff matter? Swap the engine over and leave all the control stuff in it and swap that onto the new engine.
          You may or may not know 10 times what i do.
          ASE Master certified. Just means I can take tests. GM ASEP Graduate.
          95' Z26, ported/cammed 3400/3500, OBD2, 282, T3T4. Boxes almost all empty..

            Cause the AIR stuff would require re-using the old heads... LOL

              yea and i really dont wanna. i live in new york so i dont know. i do hate that air pump its such a eyesore
