The 200 will bolt up just fine, since the 60v6 uses the small block Chevy bellhousing. This is why the Fiero guys are able to bolt 350s and the like onto FWD trannies.

      um, no.

      this is the SBC bellhousing

and this is the '660 (small corporate) bellhousing

Fiero guys use adapter plates to bolt their SBC's up to the smaller bellhousing.

The way the mounts are set up in the in the vette fabbing mounts should be easy, I'll keep checking on this thread and update my progress if you are interested.
In case you didn't know the chevette 5spd tranny is a T5. That would make that part of the swap a snap.

        BUILD THREAD PLEASE!!!

The only problem there is I have an auto trans not a manual. If I swap tranys I'll go for a 700R4. Would like to use the th200 that is in it if I can, going for the low buck build here. Thanks for the input tho.

The 700r4 would be a fine choice. What about the rest of the swap? I need to pay close attention to this thread for my Miata swap. I THINK (not positive) that the trans to use would be from a carbureted 2.8 from either an s-10 or camaro because the 85 model year and up tranny's are tied into the computer. I could be wrong.

I'm in the process of putting a 2.8 V6 & NWC T5 in my 79 Chevette 2dr. I started by installing an 84 S10 3:73 Posi Rear Axle, a Parallel Leaf Spring Rear Suspension, and a 15 Gallon Jeep Scrambler Fuel Tank. You can check it all out at www.cardomain.com/ride/511840/2

1st off, I wanted to tell you i love your car! I've always liked chevettes. You've got great info on the motor swap. I really like the revelation with the oil pan. I'm getting all my ducks in a row for a 60/V6 conversion once the 4-cyl turbo goes. Did you use an '85-'88 2.8? I hope you didn't use the '84 and under. As far as your engine build goes, I think you will be very pleased with the end result. I did a similar set-up using a '92 3.1 out of a wrecked firebird back in'94. I put a cam, 4v, and hung headers on it...stabbed it back in my '84 camaro with a 5-speed and 3.73's. The car ran REALLY good for a v6.

Glad you like my ride...compliments are always welcome. I've been planning and collecting parts for "BUTRNUT" for about 5 or 6 years now and it will probably be another couple of years before it's on the road because I'm taking my own sweet time getting it done. As for my engine... I have an NOS 1985 2.8 V6 Shortblock , with 9:1 Pistons and the One Piece Rear Main Seal. I got it got from a guy in Michigan who was selling them on E-Bay. He had 100 NOS 2.8 V6 Shortblocks that he bought from GM Surplus.

"Some people put S-10 rears in Chevettes, but that's just dangerous. They cut the leaf spring" And why is that, the 7 5/8 s10 rear is stronger than the monza/vega.

Ok my vette needs a bigger engine and i think 3.4 dohc is the way to go. Could anyone tell me if i can turn the intake around so its not stuck in my heater box. Spinnin the LIM would be preferable and also wondering if there's gonna be room left for the ps eliminator bracket with the spin.
