EMX, do you have a build thread anywhere for your formula? I have a base 86 right now, but later down the road would like to get an 88 formula (like the looks of them) and pretty much go hog-wild with it

So (random question) do you fiero guys have problems with axle breakage like us FWD guys? I've seen some fieros pulling wheelies in videos.. that's why i ask. lol
Superdave I believe part of the axle breakage problem the fwd cars run into has to do with possible wheel hop. The Fiero plants firmly on the rear wheels on acceleration so unless you do it purposely wheel spin is not common on spirited acceleration from a stand still. Usually the axle failures are actual joint failures and usually remaned axles that have parts that are weaker than the stock Fiero axles sitting behind a V8.

I discovered the axle difference while making up an axle for the 6 speed, I thought the joints were all the same however the Fiero automatic axles are either light duty or the one I had was remanufactured using a light duty axle that fits the Fiero hub because the driver side outboard joint and the axle shaft itself was smaller than the Fiero manual tranny axle and both are pretty much the same size since the driver side of the tranny seal is in roughly the same location across both transmissions.

In other words, always use an OE axle because the remans can be made from whatever will get the job done.

        BIG UPDATE:

Anyone curious to see what a 3400 looks like in a Fiero?

Well here you go, the wiring is a bit of a mess right now i have to tidy it up and run the harness into the cab. I am waiting on my chip & connectors for my ECM along with a passenger side axle, I was sent the wrong one. Then all I have left to do is run my fuel, coolant lines and brake booster line.

I will take some better pictures with the digital very soon.
