  • '92 grand prix from 3.1 to 3400

Ok Im buying th 1992 Grand Prix with the 3.1 but the engine is no good. So I was woundering how hard would it to be to swap the 3400 into it? Like what would I need and what would I need to change out? Well if any one can shed some light on this it would be greatful.

you will need to change the down pipe and flange from a '98+ 3100 W body(Lumina/Monte Carlo)...also you'll need a special adaptor to run the '92 EGR...Power steering reservoir, flex fuel lines, youll need to lengthen the TPS and IAC wires.

depends on what year 3400 you get, if it's a newer one with the 2 bolt EGR then yours will bolt right up.

      or my old fix..

So that all I need to do? I can use the old engine mounts and what not. I know when doing the 2.8-3.1 to 3100-3400 swap in a beretta you need a custom engine mount. Im just making sure what I all need to make this work before I go buy the 3400.

you'll need a bracket for the lower main mount that you can get from GM. lits like $15 give or take. Essentially its pretty much bolt in. Oh yeah youll need a curved hose for the P/S return. other wise you can refit to the 3100 power steering lines. You can run the the 3.1 alternator or you can change out the plug and run the newer alternator( the wires are the same just follow the positions.
