I trying to find out what all has to be changed in order to put a 3.5 out of a 2005 Malibu into a 2003 Impala with a 3.4. I've read that the upper intake has be changed. I need to know if the mounts are the same and what electrically parts has to be changed.

Upper can be adapted. I have a 3500 upper on my 3100. You'll need a TB adapter sold at wot-tech. And you'll need the external crank trigger as well. Check the performance pushrod section for the 3500 PCGUYs thread it should be pretty similar.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Thanks for the thread. Boy its long. I am a mechanic and I also have the oppertunity to get a 3.5 with 23k for $500. After reading some of pcguy's thread, I'm wondering would it be better to just do the top end swap. My engine still runs fine, just looking for more power. What do you guys think.

Cost of gaskets too come into play. So the whole engine may be the same even after external crank sensor.
Your A/C may bolt up fine, the later year 3400's changed the A/C boss on the oil pan not sure which year though.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
