so what years will work? Because when I put in the information, I used a 1988 Blazer. But when I click on the tab to see all of the vehicles it fits the 88 blazer is not even listed, but my jeep is.

    • now I put in 1990 blazer info and it comes back with this http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...pe=267&PTSet=A

same part number as the jeep flywheel, but when you look at the vehicles it fits my jeep is not listed....what's the deal?

Yeah, I know what you mean. You'll be happy to know that vacuum on the 3.4L is limited to the FPR and MAP sensor. Other'n that, I have a line to my cruise control and brake booster. I was looking at my friend's Land Cruiser, freaking ridiculous. Vacuum lines everywhere!

Because you have an external balance engine, The Camaro engine is internal balance. Ignore the parts listing because they are for stock applications. It should not even list that external balance flywheel for 88and later S-Trucks they are all internal balance. But it is not the first time a parts listing would be wrong. Just buy a 93 2.8L S-10 flywheel to be safe. It is identical to your current flywheel except it is neutral balance.

          • And if it isn't, you know who to blame.

Sounds right to me though. Go for the 93 S-10.

I just got it last night along with some motor mounts. Hopefully I will have the stock one out soon so I can compare the two. I'll let you guys know if it fits.

Thanks for that link too, but that is not exactly what I am doing. That guys whole write up is based on an auto tranny, and the flexplate. I think what he is describing at the beginning of the article is him trying to use the flex plate from the crate/camaro engine. Hopefully mine will go smooth, and if I did not make it clear earlier I have a 5 speed so I am using a flywheel.

                  • I got a chance to spend a few hours on it tonight. Most of this time was spent taking out the bell housing to engine bolts....what a freakin pain. I was standing in the engine bay with the dis. cap removed trying to get the top three bolts loose....I ended up getting them all. I also disconnected my hydraulic clutch line and cut off more of the exhaust. I think I am pretty much ready to hook a chain to the engine and take the motor mounts out and figure out what I forgot to unhook. Thanks for the adivice so far.

                    • Next time remove the trans mount bolt and jack up the trans. Take out the cross member and drive shaft. Then lower the trans/transfer case with the jack so the engine leans back. if the distributor is out the you will get lots of movement and should be able to get all the bolts with an extension an swivel socket.

                      • I got a chance to work on it again tonight, I got the engine out and did a few other things. Here is me getting the top bell housing to engine bolts loose.

                        here comes the engine

and here are some flywheel pics I took comparing the 93 4x4 S10 2.8 flywheel to my 85 4x4 cherokee 2.8 flywheel, and from what I can tell they are the same size. Hopefully this will save future swapers the machine work of trying to get the old one neutrally balanced.

Hopefully I will have a chance to work on this again this weekend. I'll report back.

                        • That's good news on the flywheel, glad that worked out for you.

Have you considered what you're going to do for the wiring harness yet?

I am still planning on using the stock wiring harness. Thoughts? I have a 5 speed ecu and a full wiring harness from the automatic engine.

                            • I forget what you had. The stock SFI harness from the 3.4?

The jeep has a carb right?

yes it is carbed, and yes I have the stock harness from the SFI auto 3.4.

I have a problem though. The oil pump and pick up are not going to work. I had it pressed today and the guy called back and told me that is sits about 2" lower than the stock one. I know with the trooper you guys have the oil pan that looks like a deep boot, well the one on my jeep looks more similar to the camaro oil pan. What pick up should I use with this set up? Would the stock camaro pick up work?
