  • 3.4 Camaro Engine Swap into 3.1 V-6 Isuzu Rodeo

I've been doing some research regarding my recent purchase of a '92 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 with a 3.1 V-6 and 5-speed. From what I understand, this engine is a Chevy engine, and it would seem possible that a 3.4 V-6 from a Camaro or Firebird would be a bolt-in. I know I would need the 3.4 engine wiring harness and computer, but would my existing tranny bolt up to the engine? Has anybody tried this before, and what kind of engineering difficulties have been run across?

First goto S-series.org for the swap info. Second there is no need to change to the Camaro EFI system. Just keep your old one and do a couple mods to make the power you want. Your tranny will bolt up but you have to drill the Camaro block since your starter is on the opposite side.

The swap is a direct bolt in pretty much

That almost sounds too easy LOL........I wanted to go with the Camaro EFI as it looks to be better suited to a turbocharged application. Thank you for the info!

Well in all honesty it is better for Turbo. You cannot use a turbo on a TBI application because TBI is like a carb. If you pressurize it fuel and air will leak out.

However there is a Supercharger avalible for the 660 (TBI or Carb) which I highly recommend. It would also be MUCH cheeper than a turbo.

They are called blow through turbo systems and they work just fine if properly done...IE Older Espirits, Maserati Bi-Turbos, Carbed Turbo Buicks, Turbo Corvairs.

Yes you can do it to TBI and Carb. But it will not work on a stock one. For instance. TBI's need to be sealed around the throttle shaft or fuel will spray out when under boost.

draw thru, the carb or tb is before the turbo, like carb'd turbo regals
