  • 1994 Chevrolet Corsica (please read)

Hi guys, I'm new to the boards, and I drive a 1994 Chevy Corsica. I know this sounds a little strange, but I'm looking to try and change my car from a piece of crap into an import killer that looks like a piece of crap. Right now, its got the stock 3100 V6, im looking to change out for a turbocharged 3400 DOHC or a 3.6 VVT. I'm looking for a price range, and whether or not the 3.6 will fit. I know I'm going to have to redo most of my car (CV Joints, Suspension, ECU...) but I'm looking for a price range. If anybody can help, that would be great. Thanx

You could do a turbo'd 3400 for probably around $6000 and it would be relatively simple. The 3.6VVT is another beast entirely. It might have a few clearance issues, but we have yet to have anyone on here with any experience with them. The biggest issues would be the PCM and trying to adapt it to work with your car. And with the engines being very new, you won't find a donor for cheap. I'd put that into a $20k price range...

I'd put it in the "Not Worth It" price range.

Do like Brad said, keep it simple. Drop the 3400 and slap a nice turbo on it!

I'm no expert by any means, but I know the DOHC 3.4 is MUCH easier to find than a 3.6. The DOHC swap would be alot easier to do although you still have to find a way to physically fit the engine in the bay and keep things like the power steering rack and brake master cylinder. Don't forget about how to adapt the larger dohc axleshafts to the smaller corsica wheel bearings. It might be possible to swap the whole front suspension from a w-body but I think the corsicas are narrower than the W-bodies. I know I forgot A whole page of things, but you get the idea.
If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

If youre serious about hotrodding the corsica, swap the 3400 non Dohc into it and put a turbo on it. If I were you I'd just try tweaking the 3.1 Those things have decent power when you do basic mods to them. If its a 3.1 and not a 3100 a turbo off a 89-90 grand Prix would probably fit easier than a 3.4 dohc or 3.6 swap.

Pretty much sums that up *crap....

Yeah a turbo system form 89-90 will pretty much bolt on to any VIN T 3.1 engine and on the VIN M 3100 with some modifications, you just need to have the chip programmed to accept boost.

If you wanted to put a 3.4L dohc into that car you'd need to redo the whole front end and some work on the rear suspension to even weight distribution.

You would basically stipped her down to the frame and struts and build a body around the 3.4L

                  not worth it.

Clunk against the radiator? I don't think there is even a radiator in there.

It would probably be easier to make it rear wheel drive, But you get a thumbs up for trying it!!
