  • 00 3400 to 02 3400

hey guys i have a 00 GAGT and the motor wants to die.so ive been in search of new ones ive found many 02 and later with good miles. my plans are to buy the engine and get the pp goodies from the store to finish it off. my ? is what are the exact diff from my 00 3400 then the newer ones. my engine has that gay air pump also will that be a problem. i searched around but most of th topics were 3400 to 3500 swaps were kinda a help but not much. any info would be apreciated.

wehn mine decided to eat coolant and die, i got an 05 3400 and dropped it right in.

they changed the rocker studs from 10mm to 8mm in 02. 04+ got the bigger exhaust ports.

if its possible find a PCM from a 00 GAGT without the air pump setup on it.

so there aint no sensor issues. will the airpump bolt up do i really need it or can u just remove it. i know when i scan my car with a scanner it asks me if i have the air pump or not.

I thought the exhaust ports where the same? The front manifold is the same size as my 3100. And the rear is just a redesigned for better flow. ( talking about the 2004 3400 Ive got at home ) I ended up using the stock front manifold and x-over from the 2004 3400 and a log style rear manifold, and it seemed to line up pretty good.

with the air pump setup theres these things that go into the cylinder heads. so unless your swapping the heads you have now then you wont be able to use the air pump thing.

i dont know how that stuff works if you be able to get away with running a pcm from a car without the air setup. ill check at the yard next time i go cause they had a 00gt i dont remember if ihad the air stuff on it.

sensor wise you will be fine except check the camshaft sensor power steering pump side right where the lim v shapes into the block that might be different. beut everything else will bolt up the only thing i had to re use was my o2 sensor but you might be all set on that one.

after reading around i decided to go all out and do the 3500 top end swap on the new motor i get. now since i have that air pump setup is it possible to get a pcm tune to get rid of what ever settings are in there for the air pump?
