  • 3400 swap into a 1995 GAGT

So, I'm putting a 2001 GAGT1 3400 V6 (w/ 5k miles into) my 95 pontiac 3100. My major concern is with the fuel injectors, and what to do. I have the fuel injectors from my 3100, and the injectors from the new 3400, but i'd rather not use the injectors from the 3100 (my engine has 195k miles and its biggest problem is bad injectors...). So, i'm wondering what to do... 3400 Injectors set into the 3100 rails with the 3100 regulator? 3400 injectors w/ 3400 rails and regulator connected to the 3100 harness? I'm really at a loss here because i've gathered the optimum is the 3100 injectors... but mine are all but tost and 6 injectors would be way more than i can afford. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Also, anyone know a place in the Indiana -Illinois - Michigan - Ohio - Wisconsin area i could get the computer tuned to the new engine?

    thanks, Evan

I think the recommended thing to do would be to use some 3400 sized injectors from 96-99 in there... the 2000+ has the Multec 2 injectors that people like to avoid.. If you don't want to buy new ones, you can use eiher one and it should run... just make sure you use the appropriate regulator for the injectors...

Okay, I'm just going to get some new 3100 injectors to replace the bad ones i have... Been reading too many problems with useing the multec2s, so, i'm just going to do it right and spend the extra money. My next question is: can anyone direct me to some instructions on making the EGR adaptor plate for the 96-99 (vertical) UIM? i have the 1995 digital EGR, need to put it on the linear egr plate.

        thanks ,Evan

Before you go out an buy new injectors... I tried posting this at work yesterday, but our firewall only lets me post every now and again. Send them off to either Marren Motorsports (www.injector.com) or RC Engineering to get them cleaned, flow tested, balanced and blueprinted. It'll run you ~$120 (new injectors are ~$75 each) and turn around is 2-3 days from the time they get them. This way will ensure that all the injectors are matched within 5% of each other. You won't be able to get that from brand new ones.

Also...get on grandamgt.com (if he's not on here), and PM "95-GT". He did this swap already. He might be able to help you out, too...though I don't think he's figured out the computer tuning part of it, yet.
