I have a 97 Malibu. Swapped a '97 3100 for a 95 or 96 3100. Everything is working exept my Tach. On the wiring diagram it looks like there is just one wire running from the PCM to the tach. what could this be?

That one wire is the speedometer signal IIRC.
I don't know why your tach isn't working, everything should be the same and you would use your old wiring harness.... Check the connections on the Ignition Control Module cause one of them is RPM signal. Maybe one is bad or ripped?sigpic
