Instead of a sleeve a small metal plate over the webbed area would provide even more stability applying pressure over the stronger ribbing instead of the thinner casting space directly around the hole, the aluminum brackets can proove very weak if there is an area allowed to vibrate in addition to the stress of belt tension and a heavy object. The engine sure does look good.

I can polish more, but we will be doing in-house powder coating soon. We got a small 200-700* oven. It's a little smaller than a house oven for heat-treating parts, so I can only do a few items at a time. I looked into outsourcing powdercoat and annodozing, but the lots have to be big to get a good deal, and they wanted $150/min to change the color, and we got the used oven for twice that amount. They had walk-in's, though, and are used to doing bigger lots/items. They did an airboat frame when I was touring the facility!

The ITB makes up for it. The manifold is a killer of power on gen2, so you got that all taken care of. Did you ever get pics of this in another thread?
FF: Gen2 covers would look cool too on this motor. Have you thought about polishing up a pair of those? You could do custom text on the flat side too...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

With the alt location, I had to put the oil fill on the driver's side on the Gen3 covers.

They had oil cap on the intake. So you'd have to use a funnel through the PCV hole. No biggy in my eyes, I use a funnel now anyway with my good paint job on the motor to prevent spills! LOL Drivers side is normal position for FWD too. I would use gen2 covers but I'm not sure if it'd clear my coolant pipe. Your are all custom so you could probably use them. Since the RWD water pump isn't where mine is.Last edited by IsaacHayes; 04-14-2008, 11:17 PM.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Is it just an optical illusion, or does your alternator not line up with all the other pulleys? Looks like it's sitting too far back.'98 Volvo V90 - Ford 5.0 swap in progress

Finally got some time to work on my own stuff . Told the family i wanted to pull my engine on Father's Day. Started at 11am and had to assemble the hoist and stand (don't fit in my truck assembled), started cooking on the grill by 2pm when our company showed up lol.
Working alone with my boys watching, it's done though...
Looks funny with no engine in it...
Close ups...
And it's ready to go to be hot tanked and then to my shop for a re-biuld...
Happy Father's Day Y'all!!!

Nice. How far are you away from dropping the engine in and then fabricating the turbo? Still figuring out the accessories?sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
