    Damn, I'm in ohio too, and I searched for several weeks for a good deal on a 3400 around here with no success. I didn't realize a motor could be shipped that cheaply. The best I could get (in Feb) was a 2000 with 71k for $650 from Deer Creek. I guess I got screwed They did deliver it to my work though.

      I should have noted that the $200 shipping quote is to my work dock.

      Looking at a few pictures I see that both the 2005 Impala and Monte use different motor mounts on the front of the car. My 1997 Malibu uses a different setup with mounts on the front(passanger side) of the motor and one around the starter. I assume from the replies above all of the holes are in this motor to put my motor mounts on and then just get rid of the ones from the Impala or Monte correct?

          I ordered the motor from Linders this morning. Actual shipping charges shipped to my work dock were $150 so I was able to get a 2005 Monte Carlo 3400 with 18000 miles for $650 total.

            NICE... Linders always comes through. They have been the best for me. I bought a trans from there for $350 with 36k on it... the damn thing was mint!

            Who did you talk to there btw??

            I always talk to Craig Rice since he knows my cousin... he hooked me up and gave me my 3500 with 4k on it for 400 smackers since I had bought a 3400 a month earlier for 500.

                  I was happy as a pig in poop with the price I got anyways. I was ready to spend $850 for a motor with 3 times the miles here local. Tell Craig he owes you a beer on me.

                      Well... you wont NEED to tune this, but it will definately pay off if you do.

                      DHP tuner can be had at PFYC.com, order it under the Grand Am section.

                      They are 387 now, and with some time using it and browsing the Powrtuner forum, you will learn a lot and find it to be rather easy in the end. There are some really nice tools out there to help you tune and get it right.

                      Only other tuner is a HP tuner, but I'm not sure if they support 97 malibu's.

                      I love my DHP and I'm SOOOOOO glad I bit the bullet and got a OBDII harness to work in my car. It was a night and day difference from my old setup.

                      Oh yeah when ordering from PFYC.com, it will take a while to come... and also dont worry about the wide open selection... just pick 3.4, in the end the new 1.2.4 software allows you to edit any supported bin file. They just need your vin to give you a proper DHP 1.5 file when you order, you need to use that file to flash to your ECM before you begin tuning... You can take that 1.5 and set it back to stock though and then work from there, thats how most do it.
