www.domesticcrew.com saies that they were both of the 60 degree v6 family. and the the 3.8 would bolt up to a 3.4 trans.HUB GT

Well the 3.8 is a 90 degree V6 and the 3.4 is a 60 degree V6. I think you will have bellhousing fitment issues.
BTW, A quick search through that site and I can't find where it says that, can you link a thread....
I think you tell lies http://domestic.3400z24.com/660board...highlight=3800

it will bolt to the tranny fine altho i doubt you'll be able to use any of the stock 3400 engine mounts.. which means custom everything.
besides, the 3400 is a far better engine.. If you want to go bigger a 3500 LX9 has been proven to lay down some serious power with good mods.. most of your stock mounts should work fine with the 3500. I can double check since i have a '04 GAGT and a 3500 handy.

they said the tran would work. im not doughting that some serious fabrication will be needed. but i was working for my uncle for free and he gave me this engine. so.i measured and it look like it would clear.....you can't beat free. i just would like to put it in, instead of selling it.HUB GT

if you were going to do a 3800 swap you can do a cam swap on a 3400 with one of the grinds they sell on the store here and end up with a pretty decent motor.
couple that cam with the 3500 top end and it will be a pretty sweet motor.sigpic

i was going to do MMS stage 1 package, but i didn't see any stats on how much off an increase it would do. ill just trade the 3.8 for a 3.4 and work on that. then just drop it in so my car isn't down for weeks on end....im sick of being beat by neons. so damn light. just cam and gut it and ur done.lol. i bought one just for the hell of it cause it was so cheap. now trying to sell it.HUB GT

wht dont you just get the parts from the store here. you can get the stuff you need to do the 3500 top end swap plus you got quite a few choices of cams.sigpic

3400 is the best way to go. With the 3800, you would have to beef up the suspension, and also get a 3800 tranny.
There are 3 different 4T60-E's. A chevy version (3.1/3100/3400/3.4 DOHC), a buick version (3.8/3800), and a cadillac version (4.9). When I was reading up on them, it was saying that the VALVE BODY is different between the 3 and the computers will not run them. The Transmission QDM controls in the ECM are totally different between the 3 and not interchangeable without swapping out the valve body.
I really need to find the section on that again, and scan it. Post it into the articles section.Taylor

if your swaping just do an L67 and call it a day. althought it might over power that stock trany! or do the 3800 and do a turbo... they sell kits but i doubt they will fit on your car. i love my 60* but the times the 3800's put down are just crazy. if your compairing NA to NA stay with a 60* if your going boost a l67 is a pretty good bang for buck. if you going custom CSC or turbo a 60* might still be a good idea too.
just remember beef up that trany.
