  • 3400 Sunbird > 3.1 Sunbird

So, i've been building this 3400 since about mid-march to drop into my 92 Sunbird(5 speed, of course). The 3.1 was getting a bit worn out, and i accomplished what i wanted to with it(15.99 quarter mile), so i figured it was time for a change. Plus i got a hell of a good deal

    02 3400 block
2000 heads and intakes, ported and polished with combustion chamber work
#1617 cam grind from the store here
    Yellow LS6 valve springs
    crank scraper
    #24 DOHC injectors + pre-99 FPR
    the stock 92 5 speed tranny(IIRC NVG-550)
    Bully Stage 2 clutch

Hoping to run mid-high 13's once it's all tuned out. Superdave here on the boards is helping me every step of the way, he sold me everything, ported the ehads, and burned my chip, and he'll be helping me with tuning over the next couple months or more..... The plan is to eventually run a pair of 3500 front manifolds, i have a pair but no flanges

Here's a link to a bunch of pics, i dont want to fil this up with my huge pictures lol.

There's more pics, i just havent put them in my album yet, the motor is in the car and on the verge of running, currently all i have to do is fill up the fluids(including gas LOL), weld the downpipe, and find an O-ring for one of the fuel lines and it's read to be fired up! Which i will get on video and post up here very shortly, hopefully tomorrow!

    Thanks for looking guys....

Spark plugs would be hard to change from in the valley

All joking aside, Caddy's actually did that with their starters :P

yes i know i mislabeled that pic, twas a while back and probably sometime around 3-4am LOL

Started it tonight But only for about 10 seconds. all i needed to knwo was that it runs, and it does, so i'm gonna clean up the engine bay (bit of wiring, cut new plug wires, fix some palces where i know i have vacuum leaks, etc) and tomorrow the downpipe is getting welded up, then i can actually get some vids of it

oh btw stock compression. i was gonna use the ironhead 3.4 gaskets but i didn't think of it until after the bottom end was together and didnt feel like taking it apart to have the .020 machined off the tops of the pistons :P
