  • Cooling the 3.1

Heres my problem...I have a 92 3.1 and 700r in a 50's car...maybe the photo will come up...just got it on the road...heated up a little, pulled over and noticed my upper rad hose was slammed shut...my question is this.. is the upper hose the suction, and the lower hose the pressure...do I connect the upper hose to the bottom of the radiator, and the lower hose from the pump to the upper side of radiator...I'm using a cross flow rad from a late 80's Vette...similar to a Camaro is the 3.1 reverse rotation of the pump, like an LT1, LS 1 ?
grateful for any help..I'd like to start driving this...

I think your 3.1 cooling circulates out of the top intake manifold. Try removing the t-stat, fill the cooling system, disconnect the top hose at the rad and have a buddy start the engine to see which way your cooling system is flowing. Should flow out of the engine side.

The proper flow is lower rad hose into the engine upper rad hose out of the engine.

Now, What pulley system are you using and what pump are you using?

If you are using a forward rotation pulley on a reverse rotation pump, I have heard of it causing the problems you describe.

      1987+ was reverse rotation.

BTW sweet swap, I'd like to see more of it. I've always had a thing for the Nashes.
