Tried to troubleshoot why the fuel pump isn’t kicking on… “last good, first bad” leads to the PCM. Either a) the PCM is toast or 2) the theft protection is kicking on. I'm banking on the latter and working on other stuff till I get the BCM wired in.
Uhm... The anti-theft system should disable the fuel injectors, the pump should still activate. I just messed with an 01 Grand am (though it was a 2.4) a couple weeks ago that was having problem with the anti-theft. The fuel pump would run all day, just the injectors would stop pulsing.

yeah as it turns out I didn't have the Ignition 0 wire hooked up (c1-19). hooked that up and fuel pump did its thing

        July 8:

Hooked up the last of the wires as well (I hope). Electronically, she's ready to fire up... mechanically, no.

Need to get looming for this:

        And this:

        July 11

Recruited my dad to help w/ the trans, and its in. Just need to get it up into the mount brackets…

        My project supervisor:

He sleeps on the roof of the car while I’m working on it... when he's not sleeping, he's staring at the baby birds in a nearby nest.

As for the PS lines, I'll mark it as done. The feed line didn't route as I'd liked it to, but it works. That's due to the small bend right before the fitting on the pump side of the line. Had to cut it at a straight point, which forced me to route that line over the corner of the cover. When I get a chance, I'll probably redo that one

Need to finish cleaning up so I can hook those up to the rack…

Will those compression fittings on the pressure line hold on OK? Just wondering, I've never tried that before.

I'll find out when I get the engine running

Spent this week starting to clean up the wiring some... I'm choosing not to make further headway until I can get the engine running (damn passlock).

this weekend plan is to try to disable it via HP tuners, so first thing on the agenda was to troubleshoot the DLC. For some reason, it wasn't working. turns out after chasing wires, the fuse for the power blew.

When I got the code reader out, I found this amusing

never did get a hold of HPT...

I did something wrong, cause what's to follow wasn't supposed to happen

I ghetto rigged up the BCM and, well....

Cooool! I was just wondering about the progress today. Sounds like it's cammed!!! I guess it's not it just had to smooth out from not being started/calibrated. Sounds damn mean. Open manifolds? If it's not a daily driver I'd be tempted to make it as loud as possible so people would turn heads. "WTF, that rumble is coming from a sunfire??" LOL....

yep. Open manifolds the MAF wasn't hooked up, so it tossed a code (that was intentional due to my custom instrument panel, wanted to make sure the MIL worked). Also on further inspection, the alt is intermittently grounding to the AC expansion tank, so that may cause the stumble in the idle

I have wide open exhaust anyhow, so it'll sound just as mean w/ it all hooked up. Specially under WOT

                        --but--

Fired it up again today to see if the fan would kick on... well, 2 things happened before it did...

the power steering return line (low pressure) popped at my splice spewing PS fluid everywhere... the compression fittings held though

there's also a coolant leak at the thermostat housing, looks like an o-ring at one of the crossover pipes failed. after I get the axles in and the car back on the ground, get to pull the TB to fix that.

                        As for the instrument cluster:

Dashpad isn't all the way down in this pic, I still need to hardwire in the BCM stuff, so the pad came back out after I took the picture

Ewww Good luck with the clean up. Hmm neat gauges. What brand? Not sure how shifting will be with a digital tach... Does it have a dial image?

If you know your car, you don't really need a tach. I personally would be fine with the numerical readout.

Cyberdyne gauges. there's a programmable shift light at the top center of the tach, so not too concerned about the numerical. Right now its set at 5800 rpm, may change it depending on how the car acts.

Simple Green and a pressure washer took care of the mess
