  • newb here. 2.8 camaro motor in fiero?

Ok 1st off, I have a 1987 Zimmer Quicksilver that my grandfather purchased brand new and drove up until 2001. It is now mine and I plan on doing a full resto. After I swapped new gas/oil/plus/injectors/pump the engine started knocking and is shot.

I would like to keep the car as stock as possible and probably just have the original 2.8 rebuilt.

My question is, will a 2.8 1989 camaro engine bolt right in? I know I will have to swap over the intake and all of the accesories, what all exactly will I need to swap over? I know, I know, keep looking and get a 3.4......well this fbody 2.8 only has 50k miles on it, and the guy sold the tranny seperate and only wants $200.

So for $200, I can have this thing rolling and concentrate on restoring the rest of the car, instead of now just having the car on stands while I have the stock 2.8s top end off.

I know this is the best place for 2.8 info, what do you guys think? And yes I know I have to swap the starter, I have the jig on the way already.

The starter is on the wrong side, and I think there's some other issue, but the starter location is the big one. Rodney Dickman sells redrilling jigs, if you decide that teh Camaro 2.8 is worth it.

I already have rodneys jig on the way. So this motor will work other than that?

Be sure to use the '88-up neutral balance flywheel.
