  • Some advice needed on a 3.1 to 3400 swap

My 93 Cutlass convertible 3.1 has bit the dust just short of 260,000 miles. I plan on going to a 3400 for a number of reasons. Better power and better availability here where I live. I've been over the swap guide on a 3400 swap and most of my questions are answered. I still have a few questions for anyone who may have done this swap into a W-Body.
Was the power steering pump retained from the old 3.1? Did the lines fit or custom necessary? Which EGR setup did you use? Advice would really be appreciated. Any chip experiments that you may wish to share? Does the OE 3.1 chip really suck just for daily driving? Thanks in advance

The genIII power steering pump must be used for a couple reasons, pulley offset, the pulley is closer to the pump on the genIII set-up, and keeps the belt alignment correct with the thinner genIII front cover mount, and the genII resevoir won't clear the genIII intake manifold.

Use you're 3.1 EGR and make an adaptor, or buy one, I think there may be one availble through the 60* store.

For daily driving the '93 OBD 1.5 should be fine.
You're not going to scare anyone, but it will figure out what is going on.

I know a few Beretta guys are switching the '93-'94's over to OBD 2 and then using the DHP tuner with some success.

        ^^DON'T listen to that fool!^^^
You have OBD 1 and it is somewhat tuneable as it has a removable chip.

I shouldn't read post in the middle of the night.
        Sorry about that!
