  • 2.8 87 multiport engine into 87 tbi engine bay...

    Swapping '87 Camaro multiport 2.8 into same year Blazer also with 2.8, would like to keep the multiport setup if possible, what do I need to do to the wiring? I can get the multiport ECM, but what else will I need, and will multiport ECM screw up anything else on the vehicle? (Like: speedometer or whatever...) Thanks for any info/feedback on this one!

    Your speedo is cable driven directly from the tranny tail stock, no issues there.

    You can use the F-body ECM, but the wiring will have to be swapped and/or modified, as the F-body should have a '7730 or equivilant ECM, and uses 3 plugs where the S-series uses 2 plugs. The '7730 would also give you electric fan control, which hels a lot.

      Sorry, meant mostly the dashboard instruments etc. or fuel pump, or something I may not have thought of.

      What's the advantage of fan control? You mean radiator fan?

        Nothing in that regard will be effected since none of them run through the ECM.

        Fuel pump is controlled by the ECM, but you'll be taking care of that when you swap the new ECM/harness in.

        Yes, rad fan control, allowing you to use an e-fan to free up some ponies.

          You will need to use an mpfi (camaro) fuel pump in place of the stock pump.
