  • EFI Intake Setup question

I got a 85 or 86 Fiero intake/throttle body setup for a 2.8l v6 I just picked up and I was wondering what all I would need to make this work (and how hard it is to do). The engine is going in an MG, so none of the origional wiring, or electronics is in place. I'm guessing I'll need an air flow meter, a wiring harness, and a computer controller at a bare minimum.

If anyone has any tips, suggestions, etc I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

I would suggest getting an F-body Upper (amd maybe mid manifold), as this will place the throttle body correctly instead of being to the side, to clear the dizzy in a transverse application. I can't completly verify this, but you may have dizzy fitment issues when you turn that intake 180* to have the TB face forward.

For ECM I would start with a '7730, these can be found in many vehciles, ranging from Cavaliers, Sunbirds, Berettas, to F-bodys, all between the years of 1987 to 1994. Then for closest tune on the iron head with the MPFI starting with a PROM from an MIFI 2.8 or 3.1 F-body would probably work best. I Would use the 3.1 PROM myself, as it is speed density (MAP sensor) based, and anyone who has the MAF based 2.8 usually wants to swap to the SD set-up.

      Thanks Raven,

I am leaning towards carburated for simplicity sake right now though I will probably convert it over to EFI once the thing is together.
