    Anything's possible with money!
I figure if they can swap it into a Golf, though, a W Body Northstar shouldn't be out of the question. Lets us know how it goes, ok?

I think you'd run into some major clearance issues, both lengthwise and widthwise. So, if you want to cut your car down the middle to widen it up, and extend the front to give more engine room.... Picture a 3.4 with an extra 6+" for those extra 2 cylinders

Oh - but - I believe the 4.9 has been shoehorned into some form of W body... I forget which at the moment though.
Okay now, that's enough of that.

i have heard of an asg 5.0 caddy swap. there is a link on here somewhere for it. but im sure the 4.6 northstar(300 hp 305tq stock makes me salivate just thinking about it ) is taller being 4 cam and all.

A 3.4DOHC is a big engine height wise. The Northstar shouldn't be much taller at all. As far as width goes, it won't be much wider either. Northstars are pretty compact and I've heard that they are almost the same size length wise as some V6s... so the 6" extra for that extra cylinder probably won't apply.

And like was mentioned... ASG has put a Caddy V8 in there, so the N* should fit with no problems.

On another note, I've seen an N* in an Alero...

are you SURE that was a northstar in an Alero, and not a Intrigue? I know Olds had a prototype Intrigue with the Northstar, and a prototype Alero with the 3.5DOHC

Oh, and the small-block chevy V8 is smaller than the northstar. (that's why the CTS-V doesn't have the northstar, it was too big)

It wasn't a concept. It was someone who took the time and spent the $$ to put it in. I remember seeing pics of it on GAGT awhile back.

now I have seen somewhere the SBC swap.... I beleive it was a 4.8l truck motor put in an Impala.... which shares its GenIII design with these motors: 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, and possibly the 6.0. I can't remember if they changed the block on the 6.0's or not in the new trucks....

I inquired about this topic around 6 months ago, and got shot down. Somebody on this forum measured the NorthStar and said the width and height was too much, partially due to the tranny attached to it and said the only way to get it in, would be chopping up the frame .. Just letting you know of what I heard, and by no means trying to discourage you ..
I would definately attempt it if I knew a 5spd would mate to it, cause I highly doubt my GETRAG 284 would just bolt right to it .. Good Luck ..

Just out of curiousity .. The 4.6L is a 90 degree engine, correct? Also, is the alternator in the same shitty spot the 3.4L DOHC is in ? Also, were they RWD or FWD ?
