Is a 3.4L SFI OHV Make for a good swap

I have an 86 Fiero V6 SE just thru a rod thru oil pan.
I have found a 1994 Camaro with a 3.4L SFI OHV in a parts yard with 100,114 miles showing on the odometer. car shows inspection sticker ran out in 2000 and the interior and exterior looks like it has been siting vacant that long.
The engine compartment however looks clean.
the parts yard just took it in but cant or wont give me any details on why it sat for so long.
My Question is would this engine make for a good swap.
Also what should I be wary of if it has sat for up to 6 years with out being run.

I'd go for a FWD motor. A 3400 with aluminum heads makes more power than the 3.4 RWD camaro motor does.

Right now just looking to get running again.
This motor will be $200 with a warranty for 30 days if I pull myself.
I Have only found a few 3400 front wheel drives and they want from 500-600 with no warranty.
This same yard has several 3100 and also a few 3300 engines.
I know I dont want to use the 3100 and I have not found any one mentioning the 3300 as as an option.
Would the 3300 be something to consider or would I be better off with the one in the camaro.
Any input would be appreciated.

3300 is related to the 3800, a 90* motor. It doesn't make much power and if you are thinking about a 90* motor it's best to go the 3800 s/c route and run that or turbo it. 3300 wasn't that reliable from what I've heard too. Stay away. It's not that common either.

But you can get much more power N/A out of the aluminum headed motors, and they respond great to boost as well. The 60* motors are smaller package too.

If the camaro motor is the only option cost-wise/etc then yes it will bolt up to the transmission, I don't know if the starter location and mounts will be an issue though... The starter could be a problem if it's in the way of the transmission. I don't know if it has mounts to swap sides on it or not...

Did you check www.car-part.com for 3400's close to you cheap? 3400 makes 20 more HP than the camaro motor and the starter will not be an issue.

3300 is extremely reliable and makes good power , i have one in my grand am and it kicks ass, and even better with the 5 speed swap, i have heard only good things about 3300's, and i think they make like 160hp, not bad , better than the 3.1. yes it is a 90* motor, but the thing sounds like a SBC with my exhaust setup and has so much damn low end torque its unreal.

Fiero 3.4 Swap

Your Fiero has the starter over on the other side, just like Troopers which came with a GM V6. So if you use the Camaro 3.4 in your Fiero, you'll have to drill holes in the 3.4 to mount your starter.

Finaly decided on an engine.
3100 SFI from a 1994 Buick Century 97,000 miles.
Im going to bolt it to my existing transmission. Will the 2.8 computer run this engine and do I need anything extra from the century.
