  • 2300 Hybrid swap

Whats up all, I have a slightly modded 3.1 MPFI and I have been looking for a bit more power. I found a 3400 top end everything I need for 150 snaps! but its 2hrs away, anyways I need to know what sized pushrods to use, I will be taking the heads to a machine shop for the works and also using rocker rollers and better valve springs also is it worth it to get a copper head gasket (if you can) the car might see boost down the road. Should I use the 3.1 stock injectors or the 3.4.
    Thanks

Many people have measured and came up with lengths all pretty close. Do a search and you should find a couple threads where we've pasted the #'s. Go for the LS6 valve springs especially if you are going to boost later. You will need seats and seals from other motors to make it work, and depending on the year 3400 heads you have that can vary.

Get a 2004+ 3100/3400 head gasket, they are graphite and pretty durable. Several people have ran 9psi or greater and not had problems yet.

You should use your 3.1mpfi injectors until you can tune it, since the computer has the flow rate value's for that programed in. If you use different ones the computer won't know it and it will run bad (rich).

You can however burn a new chip or get someone else to make you one so you can run the 3400 fuel pressure regulator and it's multec2 injectors. You will need to do that so it runs at full power anyways, since you will be close to maxing out the 3.1 injectors and the stock computer can only adjust so much.

So use the 3.1mpfi injectors just to get it drivable again, and to get the full power get a chip tuned for the larger injectors and higher PSI fuel pressure regulator. Check out www.v6z24.com for more ideas, as those guys swap in full 3400s/etc all the time and even do boost. Search that site and look at their setups.

    Good luck!

Search on this site for LS6 springs, and check the store here too. I think Ben is going to put together a kit with the seals and seats needed to do the springs in a kit soon. An yeah LS6 springs are from the V8 LS series motor, the LS6 is stiffer than the LS1 springs in the camaros and is the motor in the C5 corvettes.

Cool that you already have a cam. That'll go well with the higher flowing gen3 (3400) top end.
