I sent an email to the MS people and someone was nice enough to mail me back telling how I could do this and what code would be needed in MS, or how to switch it using MS-II.
    Yes I did build it myself.. Have you ever soldered before? I thought it was easy to do.

    It is all ready set up to run with the stock GM MAP. You can even run both MAPS so that it is constantly adjusting to the altitude, like if you were to drive it up a canyon (pikes peak).

    I think the stock MS MAP is better than the GM one and can read up to 2.5 bars and for $30 more dollars you can upgrade to the 3 bar (thats 30 lbs of BOOST).

      Yeah, I've soldered a lot. I'm just worried that i'll mess up once and trash the board.

      The Idea with the MAP sensor was that I didnt want to run the vacume line through the firewall. I think it would be a lot easier to just run a couple of wires instead. Plus, I could go up to using the GM 3 bar sensor if it were to become necessary to.

        I felt the same way about the soldering the board but it realy wasnt that bad and I didnt even buy the stim board to test it as you built it. I went to radio shack and bought a small printed circut board and some stuff to solder to it for practice. I personally think it would take a good sized F*&^ up to trash the board. It is almost 2X as much to buy it pre-assembled, $250 vs. $410. Either way you look at it, it is a shit load cheeper than anyother setup out there and has awsome support to help you out.

        When I was wiring it up I even blew one of the zener diodes and had to track it down and un-solder it, and even that wasnt to bad.

        As for the vacuume hose it took me less than 5 min. to run the hose and then you dont have to worry about configuring MS to the GM one, and that could or could not take more than 5 min, but thats how I see it.

        I am happy to help you out with what I can. Feel free to email, I dont get any email from this place so I wont know if you pm me.

        P.S.
        I am still trying to get my IAC to work proprely. Cant say I have put to much time trying but should have it worked out this week.

              Any updates on how it is running?

              I have been thinking about going this route with my 3400 Z24 sometime in the future and so far you are the only guy I know running a 660 with Megasquirt.

                    I had it running fairly well (was still trying to get my accel enrichment set), but havent had time to mess with it lately with school being so busy. It had a large enough exhaust leak that I didnt know how accurite my o2 readings were so I stoped using it and put the stock computer back in. I finially had a chance to fix the exhaust leak but now I have finals at school. I am also gathering parts to swap in a turbo 3400, and plan on having it running some time this month. This motor will have to run on MS so I will be forced to get it tuned in. Also the 3400 will be tuned with a wide-ban o2 and will be forced induction so the 2.8 tune I started with will be useless, which is the other reason I havent been playing with it to much. As soon as the engine is in and fired up I will let you guys know.

                    Here is the thread I started on my turbo swap

                      are you willing to share your 2.8 tuning file??? im going to be getting the megasquirt, idnd it would be ausome to start with a rough tune up to get it going.

                        I will email you my most current file when I get home from school. I will also try to post it up here on the board for anyone else who wants it.

                        What MS are you planing on getting? My tune will only work with MSII.

                        Also School is fininshed today and I will be playing with it some more and will let you guys know how well I can get it running in the next two weeks before I swap the new engine in.

                            So you are planing on using the MS II chip and running the megasquirt n spark code? If you are you can "import" some of my tables into your code but cant use my tune dirrectly.

                            Are you planing on having MS run your IAC? If you you will have to run the MS II code.

                            Have you joined the MS forum? If not they can answer any questions you have about megasquirt n spark a thousand times better than I can.

                            Also your I cant view email address to send you my current tune.

                              i thought you were running megasquirt and spark. if you arent, how are you controlling ignition???

                                You will have to decide if you want a MegaSquirt-I (for base code or MSnS-E code) or a MegaSquirt-II. There's lots more information to help you make that choice here:

                                * MegaSquirt-I (fuel only):
                                * MegaSquirt-II (fuel, spark, and stepper IAC):
                                * MSnS-E (feature laden fuel and spark code for MS-I):
                                MSnS-E is very similar to MSII, the big difference is that MSII will also run your IAC and can talk to other computers (which are being developed).

                                In short here is a small list of things each code will allow you to do.
                                MSnS-E::::::::
                                fuel, spark, boost control, nitrous control, fan contorl, shift light, and a few other things
                                MSII::::::::::::
                                fuel, spark, IAC control, Controller Area Network (CAN). With the CAN you will be able to control almost anything you want, auto trans, boost, nitrous, multiple egt gauges, map fuel pressure, traction control, sequential injection & coil on plug, and the list goes on.

                                If you want to do this you need to know the difference between the modules, and what each code can do for you (i.e. MSII or MSnS-E). Here is a link to a menu of all the MS info, read "MegaSquirt-II Introduction" and also read the "Introduction" section in the MSnS-E. This should answer a lot of questions you have.

                                My car runs on MS II alone and controls, fuel, spark, IAC, will soon have my knock sensor hooked up, and soon to be boost control. My tuning has been coming along great but still has a ways to go. When I get some more thing figured out I will email you my file that way it will be more complete.

                                If I were you I would run the MSII code like I did. By the time you have a lot of the features that it comes with figured out the new GPIO board will be out and you can start expanding you system from there.

                                If you have any questions let me know and I will do my best to help you out. My email is marq84004@yahoo.com. Good luck reading
