does anyone have experience with this ECU?

i have one for my truck but can't find help on finding any sort of base maps to run off of to get into the tuning. i don't like sitting on a $1000 paperweight.

$1000? Where did you buy it from? When I got mine 2 years ago it was only $700.

I have one for my 3400, but haven't fired it up yet. Where are you located? What are your specs (engine, injectors, etc.)? If you are close, I might be able to help.

There is a Yahoo Group for Haltech support: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/HaltechSupport/

There aren't a whole lot of GM users, but there might be someone with a base map to get you going.

        RE: haltech E6GM

i paid $200 for it, but i like to think retail so i trick myself into thinking it was a super deal

i'll check out the yahoo group. haltech's board on ez-board is about dead, not even the 3 guys from their shop replied to me.

its for my burb, factory TBI truck. should be around 340hp/410tq. 9.5:1, gmpp vortec heads and .431/.451 billet hyd roller cam, edelbrock rpm vortec intake, 1 5/8 primary 30" headers, dual 2.25" duals, 2 catco cats, 2 turbe mufflers. holley 900cfm 4bbl throttle body with 4 80# injectors. i ran the same TB on a 250hp gm crate motor and didn't drown it with a holley analog FI system years ago so i should do well with the jump in power. factory tbi wiring harness. the factory dual 1 11/16" bore TB with 2 stock injectors wouldnt flow enough air or fuel and this thing falls on its face with that setup anywhere above idle.

i know its the 60v6 site i'm asking on, but nobody else could help so far out of all the other big sites i've tried. the guys on chevytalk all run holley cmdr950 it seems, the vette guys who run the haltech only know mpfi maps because they're all on TPI cars...

$200 IS a super deal, no matter how you look at it. If you can get a hold of some Holley Commander maps from the chevytalk guys, I don't think it would be that hard to convert them to work with the Haltech to get you a good baseline setup. I have done this before with other EFI systems. Do you have any dyno sheets from people running similar engine setups, even with carbs? This can be helpful in figuring out a baseline VE curve to start a fuel map.

The Haltech ez-board used to be OK, but it has so many pop-ups, and it has been pretty much deserted, especially since Haltech closed up their US offices, and the Yahoo group is SO much easier.

Can you use a E6GM with a DIS setup like a gen 2 or 3? Or do you need an E6k for that?

I have seen some deals for the E6Gm but passed on the deal as I was unsure of this aspect, as well as findign someone local to tune and getting at least a base map up and running to allow me to drive it.

The E6GM will work fine with the DIS setup.
