  • apexi MAF setup info

i have gotten everything setup except for the MAF settings. 1st thing i need to know is what type of sensor it is. I have narrowed it down to flap or hotwire type. next it lets you determine the number of sensors i need to know that too.

more importantly does any1 know af any peeps or sites that have installed these things on a MAF car? if bad comes to worse and if i ever get my intake arm back i will be able to get it by trial and error since i have a few extra MAF's laying around to blow i guess.

    RE: apexi MAF setup info

Hmm... the SAFC will probably not work with a 3.4 DOHC with a MAF sensor. Our MAF sensors output a varying frequency, not a varying voltage. The SAFC is designed primarily to alter a 0-5V signal up or down. It will work with another frequency based airflow meter, but I believe our sensor goes to well over 10kHz and the Karman Vortex sensors only go to 3kHz. If you do try it, try the Karman Vortex MAF setting. We do have a hotwire type sensor, but it is completely different from the one the SAFC is designed for.

is there any way to trick the sensor into giving a signal? i tried bypassing the safc, left the ign on and using an airchuck but nothing came on my scanner or does the pcm have to be in closed loop to interpret MAF sensor readings? i wish that guy would hurry up with my f**king intake arm so i can start the car, he has had it since jan5.

Looks like the only way i am going to make this toy work is to upgrade to a 96 obd2 setup. which in theory might be good b/c then i could use the apexi on the MAP and the mini afc on the MAF and double the fun. God, I hope not but i may get lucky. Otherwise i will try to sell it for what i bought it for and buy a mini afc.

If you give the sensor 5V and then blow on it there will be a signal outputted.

If you need a mini-AFC or something else, let me know. I may be selling off my fuel and ignition control stuff soon... I'm thinking about getting rid of my FMU, mini-AFC, and Split Second FTC1 to go with a standalone.
