ok i wanna put a 3900 from an 06 G6 into my 95 Beretta, With an older Getrag 5 speed. Just wandering what needs to be done with my ECU to make everything run properly?

Im guessing all those have vvt, I think your best bet is to find an engine management that controls vvt and just make a harness for it. I know megasquirt has an add on for it, I would imagine others do too.

Im not sure if you could even get it to run on a "stock" obd1 7730 computer. you could swap the whole car harness over but that would be a PITA, freind did that in a base model impreza to a newer wrx turbo engine

I wouldn't bother with vvt. Just lock the phaser in straight up or order the conversion bearings from TCE motorsports so you can use a 3400 cam. Then you can use the stock beretta computer if its obd1 and just retune it for the larger motor.

Yeah, I imagine trying to install the 3900 PCM along with its required supporting equipment (BCM, electric accelerator pedal, dash gauges, radio) would be like adding 3 separate wiring harnesses to the same car. It may not need all of those things but definately some of them in addition to access to tuning equipment to shut off input needs from other interfaces present if possible. Cars are becoming more like solid state electronics where instead of repairing them you fix them with a new one. Some poor souls are finding out their sophisticated projector head lamps cost several times more than the ticket they would get for driving with one out. What a surprise to walk into a parts store expecting to pay $11 for a bulb only to find you need to add a 0 to your expectation.

Megasquirt 3 now support VVT. Its probably not that bad to makes VVT works with it

Kind of like all those that jumped on the hybriid electric/gas car bandwagon. I'm willing to bet that bank of batteries aren't standard lead/acid batteries, and it's expensive enough just to replace one. Imagine what it's going to be like changing out the whole bank in the next couple years, lol.

Shane, if you go Nightengale's suggested route, that also opens the door for you to get an off the shelf cam, or even a custom cam. Do you have emissions in your area? If you do, you might not want to get too radical of a cam since it could throw a sniffer test off since the 3900 uses cam phasing as a way to get rid of the EGR valve. I would read around to see what kind of results people have gotten from the Megasquirt though.
