  • Off board PCM Programming

Found a useful link that you guys might like. I couldn't find a how-to so I thought I'd post the one I found.

Tuner - Making an offboard for tuning - I have heard of people with bonnies having problems writing PCMs with tuners while the PCM was in the car, with some DIY directions and a trip to Morad, one of the benefits of living in cleveland :D, i got it all fabbed up and am proud to say i have had a 100% success rate of...

I made one of those but I used a 12v wall wart rather than a battery charger... That's just nuts.

battery charger seems like a bad idea..... a lot of the ones i've come across don't have a whole lot of filtering on their outputs.... if you had even a garden tractor battery in there to keep things stable, it would make me a lot less nervous.

I haven't come across one yet with any sort of filtering. Well, maybe a smart trickle charger.

You could always drop $30 for an audio capacitor at Wal-Mart to filter the output.

those ~1 farad caps aren't a bad idea, they don't have the capacity of a battery, but unless your power fails during programming, that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

or just make sure your battery is good, fully charged, and you turn off all accessories.....

I used a gamecube power adapter, also the power in for the bench harness has a connector and I made adapters so I can plug it into the gamecube adapter, a cigarette lighter or alligator clips for a battery.
Before I found the gamecube adaptor I just used a spare car battery and kept it on a 2a smartcharger.
I used to have a power supply but used it quite often and it went out on me,I replaced it with a homemade power supply and then transistioned to what I use now when it became unreliable.
