  • got a powrtuner!

    I got a powrtuner today, and am going to start playing with tuning a little bit, anyone have any suggestions or a starter bin? I will be running a 98 pontiac montana 3400 pcm.

    vehicle specs:

    06 3500 heads, ported
    LS1 Maf and TB
    ported UIM and LIM
    10:1 compression
    224/214 duration @.050 .570/.565 lift 106 ICL 110 LSA
    57mm turbo, 15 or so psi
    A2w IC
    a/c
    no P/s
    5 speed
    2800 pounds

    I have been looking for a base manual tune forever. I have surging when I go neutral and coast but once am under ten mph it stops and isles.

      Have you adjusted your decel fuel cutoff table ?
      There are a few guys with 3400 6 spedd manuals now
      Try asking sleepy and mat fuller if they have bins I am not sure if they have tuners thou

        If you have tiny tuner you can change it so the ECM recognizes that it's a manual and not an auto. I'm not sure if that will solve all the issues but I can only imagine it would solve many.

        Condition he is reporting is also not "decel" he is in neutral so if the fuel cut off the engine would essentially stop rotating. The trans isn't engaged to keep it spinning.

          Where is that? I can't find it in my tiny tuners.. Or is there a version beyond 1.9?
          You may or may not know 10 times what i do.
          ASE Master certified. Just means I can take tests. GM ASEP Graduate.
          95' Z26, ported/cammed 3400/3500, OBD2, 282, T3T4. Boxes almost all empty..

            I found bins on this site last night, and now I can't find where they were!

            And found them (all of 1 minute after posting this!)

                Yea I also have never seen the table to change from auto to manual.

                  Go back to the tiny tuner download page and download the three files at the bottom



                  extract them all to the same directory, the TinyTuner_111810.rar file will overwrite stuff extracted from the public release rar and that's fine.

                  Once all is extracted open up tiny tuner, go to Options, then select Use Database when Available, then click on options, Select Database, select the Active_TTDB_09-28-10.mdb file when you have a browse window open.

                  Now go open your file and see the tons of new tables mapped.

                  And under Transmission, Gear Ratio... there is Transmission type... the options are

                  0= Manual, 1=4l60e, 2=4t65e, 3=4t60e, 4=4t45e 5=?

                  I'd have to dig through some more files to see if I can figure out what 5 is supposed to be.

                  My last PM to TGP37 about this was the following
                  4 could also be 4t40e and 5 is 4t45e perhaps? the 03 malibu bin and 03 GA bins I have say 4 and if you look it up they came with a 4t40e, I don't have any bins for after 05 and the 4t40e was marked as being used in the Grand Am till 05 and same with the malibu so I can't find something with a 5 in that area.
                  It could even be 4L80E for all I know.... I just don't have any files that reference that trans type so I don't know what it is.

                  Eddie had this listing noted in the MDB on one of the files as a description
                  0= Manual, 1=4l60e, 2=4t65e, 3=?, 4=4t45e 5=?

                  But after opening up a 97 Pontiac Grand Am file which I knew had a 4t60e in it the Trans type was set for 3 so I somewhat figured out that it was 4t60e, as well as my 97 Venture file shows a 3 stock and it works on my 4t60e.

                          so when you select manual transmission, does that change anything else in the tune?

                            ok to start, I want to disable EGR, as my manifold no longer has provisions for it, and I didn't wire it into the car.

                            looking in tiny tuner...

                            accessories>EGR>EGR air temp disable>0 degrees?
                            accessories>EGR>EGR disable speed>0 MPH?

                            would this disable EGR?

                              also, I see DHP has IFR's listed for up to 65 PPH injectors, but skips from 50-65, my injectors are 60 PPH, does anyone have a file or table for 60 PPH and a stock 3500 spark map?
