Hey guys i have recently put a 3500 and a getrag 282 in my 2001 Grand Am Gt. i am currently running the stock 3400 tune except for all the torque management gone. it drives pretty good for the stock tune except when i go to shift the rpms raise a couple hundred and kind of hang then fall. So i heard i need to touch the decel fueling. what table am i actually looking for in tinytuner. i have a dhp tuner. also when am stopped my rpms sit at about 1500 and it takes almost 30-60 seconds to fall to idle.

What "gear" does the ECU think its in? that will have an affect on some idle things.
as far as decel fueling there is a decel enleanment table to you could work on, but I've never dabbed in that area so I'm unfamiliar with it.

could be your IAC hanging open too long. Because I have run really rich at times and decel w/o high idle issues between shifts.
Possibly your spark advance not braking the engine at the high rpm/low cylair region or the idle controller needs tweeking.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

Best is to get a hold of a PCM file from a 3100/3400 5-Speed from the factory. Copy the spark maps over (including the adjusters for ECT, IAT and AFR).
The spark map will be different for a 5-speed versus an automatic. However, you CAN use an automatic spark map on a 5-speed. It just won't be optimal.
I would offer mine but it is also for a turbo so it won't be any good for you. I will be digging around my bin files today, If I come across a 5speed file (I know I have one somewhere) I'll post up the spark map data.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

Here, found a custom tune 3400 with a 5-speed (no boost). The spark is a bit aggressive though so you may want to pull it back some or be sure to run high octane like 93.

For me, spark tuning was after I got my MAF, VE tuned up. And it shouldn't be a lot of change. Mostly you want to gently advance the spark in the top end. Raise 1 degree at a time and log a 20+ minute drive. Reduce spark where you get KR by 1/2 of the reported KR average in that cell. Repeat but this time don't raise the spark where there was KR. Repeat a few times and keep an eye on performance. If you notice it accelerates a little slower or produces less torque, back off. Ideally you want the least amount of spark advance for the plateau of torque. As in, you will reach a max power output no matter how much more spark you add....you want as least as possible advance to achieve that peak torque.
Always save the updated PCM file as a new file, keep the old one in case something doesn't work right. You will be able to back up to the last settings....or view the logs with their respected pcm file for analyzing.Last edited by TGP37; 06-25-2012, 04:27 PM.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

I have no issues with DHP... HP is just very Graphical in comparison to DHP which you can easily do with using Excel and have even more features than HPTuners as far as displaying the tables. Complexity of tuning should be no different.

Speaking of, Narutov let me use his DHP in exchange for tack welding up his cracked plenum. Once I get the time, I will have the long sought after BIN file for my PCM and be able to flash it with out jacking up the file to give HPT a VIN in a 97 PCM. Finally I can be rid of the barometric relearn function that haunts my tune....lol
GA2001532, That's my take on tuning. The basics are universal but most of the process is self constructed concepts.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch
